The incident generated dense black smoke column plumes visible up to 30 miles away in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Personnel evacuated the facility, and responding mutual-aid crews included the Laurel Fire Department, Ellisville Fire Department, Collins Fire Department, and 17 volunteer fire departments from Jones County. Crews deployed foam and water master streams to control the blaze and isolate adjacent exposure hazards, including an 18-wheeler transport vehicle and finished transformers. No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control by approximately 8:30 p.m..
